Our own team manages each business day to day, so you keep your job while professionals carry the operational load — and you shop where you own.
Member funds are held through the banks we work with, Standard Bank and/or FNB. Business ownership involves risk; profits and distributions are not guaranteed.

Why?
Luthando Maduna & Co Chartered Accountants was founded to educate communities to shop where they own — so that the profits of the businesses people already support are shared with them and reinvested into the communities where they live.
To reduce poverty and inequality, ordinary people must own the businesses they already support every day — not just shop at the end of the value chain.
We assist the Luthando Maduna Foundation to educate and empower communities about multi-business ownership — building, step by step, toward a New City of Alexandra: a city owned by its people through the businesses they own together.
As more members join and shop, more businesses open, more people are employed — and more communities can be built into beautiful cities.
The vision

The mission is to build a whole new city: more than 200,000 modern apartments, home to as many as two million people — with new schools, new roads, new houses and a sports city, built by and for the community.

A system that captures everyday spend
When residents pay rent or a bond, or spend R15,000 to R20,000 across the network's multiple businesses, the founder's system captures that money and shares it with the communities and the social investors.
Managed by professionals and banks
The banks we work with manage the money and systems, chartered accountants run the businesses, and profits are distributed by fund managers — audited, governed and transparent.
In practice, 90% of the profits of the multiple businesses are redirected toward members — including investment on a regulated stock exchange such as the JSE — while 10% is redirected toward social programmes managed by professionals, with the banks as guardians. As more people are employed, more communities like Alexandra, Diepsloot, Gugulethu and Khayelitsha can be uplifted into beautiful cities.

Through the Stratum Digital platform, clients acquire ownership interests across an integrated ecosystem of operating businesses — Agriculture, Property, Retail, Logistics, Petroleum and Telecommunications. Instead of standing at the end of the value chain as a consumer, you participate as an owner at every stage.
From R250 a month
Private individuals contribute from R250 per month and acquire ownership interests while our chartered accountants manage the businesses on their behalf.
Up to 90% of profits
Members participate in up to 90% of distributable profits. Profits can be distributed or reinvested — including, where appropriate, exposure on a regulated stock exchange.
Managed for you
Our firm handles accounting, tax, payroll, supplier contracts and cash controls, and reports the results back to you in plain language.
The property arm of the ecosystem is Stratum Property Group, which develops and manages the properties that house the network's businesses.

Register on the Stratum Digital platform from R250 a month and become a South African Multi-Business Owner (SAMBO) member.

You shop where you own
Buy your groceries, meat, vegetables, airtime and data from the businesses in the network — in store or on the platform, with delivery.

Professionals run it
Our chartered accountants manage the businesses, the banks provide payment systems and point-of-sale devices, auditors audit the books, and fund managers distribute the profits.

Members participate in up to 90% of distributable profits, track everything on a monthly statement, and build ownership that can be passed on to future generations.

Security of funds
Member funds are held through the banks we work with, Standard Bank and/or FNB. Members can access their funds and records through their banking profiles and through the Stratum platform as SAMBO members.
